Fox Hopyard is 530 acres of rolling hills, dense forest, open pastures, running brooks, ponds, wetlands, rock outcroppings and stone walls. The golf course winds through the various areas seamlessly and effortlessly affording a myriad of different looks and feels. Roger Rulewich has masterfully crafted a collection of holes that gives you the feel of playing through the mountains of Vermont, the lowlands of Kiawah and the links of Scotland all in one round.
The Hopyard is a complete golf operation. At the heart of it is a private membership and lifestyle. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy the course and its facilities. Fox Hopyard is located in East Haddam, Connecticut adjacent to the Devil’s Hopyard State Park at the junction of Routes 82 & 156. The setting is rural but the location is a just a short drive to area attractions such as the Connecticut Shore, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casino’s, Gillette’s Castle and the Goodspeed Opera House. We are also geographically equidistant between Boston and New York and inside an hour to Hartford and Providence which makes us a great place to meet.
Our Clubhouse, which sits upon a 30 foot rock ledge, features a large outdoor pavilion, members locker rooms and the popular On The Rocks Restaurant. From the clubhouse there is a commanding southwest view of the 9th, 15th to 18th holes, our practice area and a five acre pond. It’s a wonderful place to gather and contemplate a round of golf, have a drink, lunch or dinner or celebrate a special occasion. The spacious and private setting make for an ideal place for weddings, receptions, reunions, birthday parties, baby showers and the like. It is also a terrific venue for small business meeting.
And the Hopyard comes with a pedigree, following in the footsteps of our highly acclaimed sister course Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Massachusetts. Both facilities were designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. protege Roger Rulewich under the direction of the Sandri family.
The mission of Fox Hopyard is provide an atmosphere where members, guests and visitors are comfortable and feel at home.
