Jason’s Weekly De-Scramble 2.28.25
I hope everyone has had a great week and is enjoying this beautiful weather…
As we end February and start March we had a good week in all areas of the property. We continue to have wonderful teaching moments with all the new staff and continue to get better. I appreciate all the wonderful comments I’ve received from everyone as we’ve had numerous positive changes. As I said this will be a process to get where we want to be, and I see it daily that we are getting close.
Had a very successful week on the golf course and have a great plan for the course moving forward to make it better. We had our Regional Director of Agronomy on property and has suggested a few items for us to look at and continue to head in the direction that the Golf Course needs to be in:
- Irrigation – We have very weak areas on the course, and this is caused by poor irrigation and irrigation heads. Todd is going hole by hole checking each head and watching the coverage it produces, and we will determine if we need to make changes or add heads.
- Greens – Greens are trending in the correct direction and as most of you have seen we’ve placed new sod down on some of the bad areas of the greens and we will continue to do this to the bad greens. Also, moving forward every Monday we will be topdressing, brushing it in and then will roll the greens. This will help the greens to continue to move in the correct direction. We’ve also ordered a part for the cup cutter to help make sure we are cutting holes properly and replacing them as well.
- POA – Yes, the POA is not great in some areas, and we’ve sprayed all of these areas and as I said a few weeks ago it takes around 14 days for the plant to show it’s dying. We have looked at our pre-emergent plans for the remaining of the year and have made some adjustments.
- Fertilizing – We are going to get very aggressive with this in the next few weeks and we are moving back to more of a granular fertilizer so you will see that out there. We will be pushing a lot of Nitrogen & Iron.
- Cart Traffic – I bring this up weekly as this is a big issue for us and for the golf course. Moving forward we will be putting up stakes and ropes and will be moving them daily so we can control the areas where everyone is driving. Also, if we can get everyone to stay on cart paths around tees and greens this would help out tremendously.
It was a great visit and had a lot of positive comments as well as learning moments for the team so we can get better and have a better golf course.
Hopefully, everyone has had a chance to meet the staff in the Golf Shop as I’m excited to have them and they are all doing well learning the policies and have brought great ideas to the table. Please give them so time to get to learn everyone and welcome them to the team.
Please sign up for the following events:

If you can sign up for these events soon so with all the product I’ve ordered, we can make sure it’s on property, on time.
Please stop by the Golf Course and check out the merchandise and we just got some new Adidas Golf Shoes that are for the Masters Week!!
F&B continues to get better in all areas, and we continue to try to come up with different ideas on how to get people to support us, as we can’t be successful with out the residents here. I heard that some are upset about the prices of items, and we are charging what we are being charged by the vendors and trying to make a profit for the restaurant.

Jason’s Weekly De-Scramble 2.15.25
I hope everyone has had a great week and is enjoying the unseasonal weather for Florida and that everyone had a nice Valentines Day.
I know that I have taken numerous questions on the Golf Course this week about the conditions and what the team in doing on the Golf Course. They were very aggressive with the greens and trying to fix the bad spots on the typical holes that have issues – 3,5,7 & 16. They have taking plugs out of better greens to fix these areas on the bad greens, and I have gone out to all the greens and have asked today to fix other spots and make sure they are smooth and taken care of properly. We also need to remember that with those two (2) weeks of unseasonal weather the grass went dormant, and grass doesn’t grow, and we need temperatures in the 60’s at night for the soil to grow and it will come back with all the fertilization we’ve done in the past two weeks. I meet with Todd daily and also ride the course daily as I have the same concerns as every else does and have a very short window, I’ve given to get these items corrected.
Next week the team is only working on the areas I’ve asked Todd and his team to work on and we do have a punch list for all 18 holes with deadlines and goals to accomplish.
As, I said last week the Golf Operations team continues to grow and have brought in some new employees and we are excited to see new faces and excited to be on the team. There will be some mistakes made and we will continue to work with them so we eliminate them as fast as we can.
Appreciate everyone that played in the Mixed Couples event last Saturday and Congrats to the winners and glad everyone had a great time.
Please sign up for the following upcoming events:
- February 21st & 22nd Club Championship – 8:30 shotgun start, and I will have pairings out as soon as I can
- March 21st, 22nd & 23rd – Member Guest – Friday is a practice round make your own tee time and Saturday and Sunday will be 8:30 Shotgun starts.
- April 3rd, 4th & 5th – Member – Member – 8:30 shotguns each day
I really hope we have bigger fields, and we have already made great plans for these events
This week the F&B team had another successful week as we continue to train the staff with getting to tables faster and working with the kitchen staff to get quality food out at a descent ticket time while working with each other and having better communication.
Please see the specials for next week:
- Saturday – February 15th – Lunch – Sausage & Peppers Sandwich – $13.95 – Dinner – Prime Rib Night – $30.95

Another week of great specials and thanks for booking for the Valentines Dinner as it was a great meal.
Don’t forget the other fun items we are hosting:
- Karaoke & Name that Tune
- Friday night entertainment in the Restaurant
- Next Band Friday February 28th – CANCELED…. We only had 16 people signed up and we had to give the Band notice. I will credit everyone’s credit card in the next few days. We need to have sign ups earlier for these bands to continue to come to ARGC
We appreciate all the support and the comments on what we do good and what we can improve on. We have a dedicated team that wants to make everything better each day and we also have individuals that we are teaching, coaching and training that the property is going in a new direction and in the direction of being positive.
As most of you know I will be out a few days for a surgery I just had but will be working from home and hope to be back sooner then I thought.
If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a great weekend and we truly appreciate the support.

I hope everyone is having a great week and has enjoyed this beautiful weather we are having and is getting a chance to get out and enjoy it.
I want to start today with letting everyone know that we appreciate the support and the comments on how we perform our daily tasks. I want to let everyone know that as a “Team” we do our best on a daily basis, and we do make mistakes, and we try our best to learn from them, so we continue to grow. We do daily walk throughs in all areas to make sure things are done properly. We have certain standards that as a “Team” we try to meet on a daily basis and with that also have policies and procedures in place that we expect the “Team” to follow. If we don’t have these, we can’t get better and we continue to fail. Also, in the Hospitality business retaining staff is very difficult, some stay and some go, I try my best to retain them, but they also have other plans in their lives that they want to achieve. I believe I was brought to this property to help improve it, with a better golf course, a better F&B Operation and to make sure that it is ran like a successful business. Sometimes I make decisions that individuals don’t like, but I’m making them for the best of the business!! In the short time I’ve been here I believe we are doing these things for the best of the community… Golf is growing with more outsiders, tournaments and smaller events. F&B is growing by the day as we get more and more events and private parties and more individuals that support our daily specials. With that said every decision won’t make everyone happy but at the same time I’m thinking of Arlington Ridge and how we can continue to make it grow and become a better facility every day. As I always say please let me know if you have any concerns, thoughts or ideas as an individual my daily goals are to grow as well.
The maintenance team had another good week as this wonderful weather has really helped out and we are getting some great positive growth, and they did a lot of work on the greens, and you can see that we are taking plugs out of certain areas and putting them in some of the weaker areas of the greens. Next week the team will be doing the following projects:
- Verticutting and topdressing greens on Monday
- Continue to work on the bad areas of the greens and continue to work on speeds.
- We are also spraying the Poa weed and with the Herbicide we are using will take up to 14 days to show the weed dying.
- Also, as we continue to punch the bad and bumpy areas to try to have better turf and less bumps. With that please play those areas as “Ground under Repair”
As, we continue to look at future forecasts we have a great weather pattern coming and you will see positive changes to the golf course. We are also discussing a better plan for Mondays with Golf course maintenance as the team doesn’t have many days to get work done with the Shotguns we do. We may start back 9 starts on some Mondays and look at a later start time. Please make sure that we don’t tee off before our time.
The Golf Operations Team continues to grow, and we continue to numerous phone calls about playing here and I’ve booked two new events for the Golf Course. Stop by the Golf Shop and check out the new product and stock up on your golf balls.
Please sign up for the following events:
- February 8th – Mixed Couples – 8:30 Shotgun start
- February 22nd & 23rd – Club Championship – 8:30 Shotgun Start each day
- March 21st, 22nd & 23rd – Member Guest – Day 1 – practice round on your own, Day 2 &3 – 8:30 shotgun starts
- April 3rd, 4th & 5th – Member – Member – 8:30 Shotgun each day
Had another great week in F&B as we had a busy week with individuals supporting the daily specials. We continue to add new team members to the team as we continue to sell numerous private parties.
Please see the Specials for next week:
- Saturday – February 8th – Lunch – Pesto Chicken Sandwich – $13.95 – Dinner – Prime Rib Night – $30.95

Don’t forget the other fun items we are hosting:
- Karaoke & Name that Tune
- Friday night entertainment in the Restaurant
- Next Band Friday February 28th – Buy your tickets on the website
I know the team has had numerous conversations about continuing to do different things and we truly appreciate the support as we do want to provide a good environment and an enjoyable atmosphere.
As I said above, we do work daily on making sure we have a better Golf Course, better Restaurant, and have a better Atmosphere for everyone, and we will make mistakes but we will also learn from them. If anyone has any comments, please let me know.
Thanks,

I hope everyone is finally enjoying our Florida winter as we had a beautiful week of weather. Also, looking at the future forecast the weather is supposed to be beautiful for a few weeks as well…
With this warmer we will start to see some positive growth and the Golf course start to turn green again. We have to remember that we need the soil temperatures to close to 60 degrees to have positive growth. I was asked a few questions about if we are putting out any fertilizer or chemicals as people haven’t seen any granular as that’s everyone is used to seeing. I had a conversation about this, and he has been doing the correct practices to the Golf Course and he has been using liquid fertilizer. Please see below some information on the difference:
The pros of using liquid fertilizer compared to granular are numerous,
- When spraying fertilizer, I can control where the fertilizer goes and only fertilizer where we want. Granular fertilizer you have to fertilize outside of the desired area to get good coverage. In this instance liquid is saving money by only fertilizing where desired.
- Liquid fertilizer is readily available to the plant both through the foliage and soil without irrigation. Granular apps require irrigation to break the prill down for the plant to have access.
- Coverage of liquid spray is uniform where granular apps do not have the uniform coverage.
- Liquid fertilizer is not being broken down by the tertiary effluent water like the granular are by irrigation.
Hopefully this answers some questions on the process the Maintenance Team is using. Also, I know that the team is working on the greens as the cold weather hurt us on our normal bad greens 3, 5, 7 & 16. Todd has a good plan in place and with this weather he’s confident it will come back soon as he see’s good growth.
Next week the team will be needle tinning the greens on Monday to keep good oxygen getting into the greens. We will also continue to work on the bumpy areas as we have had a few positive comments on it working. They will also be down more winter projects with clean up, mulching projects, etc.…
We continue to grow in the Golf Operations department as we made great strides in our Outside Operations as we continue to grow that team. Hopefully you seen a better presence of Starters and Player Assistance on the Golf Course. We continue to get better in this area and are committed to get individuals to drive their carts in the correct areas of the Golf Course. I am still looking for Golf Shop employees as well as an Assistant to help run the Golf Shop, I will not rush as I would like to get the correct individual in this position as I have numerous of ideas I want to start:
- Saturday afternoon – Couples Night with 9 holes of Golf and Dinner
- Ladies Clinics – weekly
Just to name a few things that I want to do for the facility. I have many more as I’m getting some great ideas with the PGA Classes I’ve been taking lately.
All of the following events are open on the website so please if you have a chance sign up and let’s make these great events this year:
- February 8th – Mixed Couples – 8:30 Shotgun start
- February 22nd & 23rd – Club Championship – 8:30 Shotgun Start each day
- March 21st, 22nd & 23rd – Member Guest – Day 1 – practice round on your own, Day 2 &3 – 8:30 shotgun starts
- April 3rd, 4th & 5th – Member – Member – 8:30 Shotgun each day – I know this event seems to keep moving and it was moved because I heard the first dates, we had were not good due to the Masters Tournament. Then I didn’t look, and soon realized it was Easter weekend. So, after discussions with a few other members, they believed these were good dates and have volunteered to help with the event. We are going to make this a great Member – Member again!!
Let me know if you have any questions on these events and I would love to see some of the numbers register again like 2019 when I saw the tournament information from that year. Also, I need to order all the product for these events to make sure it’s here in time.
F&B had another wonderful week as watching our new team form and get better each day is wonderful to see and see all the positive attitudes. We still have along way to go and we are excited about February and have many fun items for the month.

I hope everyone is having a great week and has stay warm as we have dealt with this unusual cold weather for Florida this winter. The good news is we will be back to our normal 70-to-75-degree weather all next week…
With this weather the Maintenance team didn’t work a lot this week, but they did continue to finish projects we had planned for this winter:
- Continue to mulch areas on the golf course
- Worked on cart paths
- Still try to work the bumpy areas to try to make them smoother for golf carts
We did top-dress all the greens this week to help keep them warm as the past two (2) mornings have been really cold and we want to protect them.
Next week Todd is going to start with some of the pre-emergent programs he has in place and with the weather we have coming hopefully we can get a little growth and start to green up. I know Todd is excited about having some warmer weather and gives him an opportunity to get some more work done and make the golf course continue to get better.
With this weather as most of you know it’s been really slow this week and haven’t had many rounds or many people visit the Golf Shop.
Unfortunately, we did have to postpone the Mixed Couples event until February 8th, and I have opened the website to try to get more signups for the event as of today we only had 20 players…
Please stop by the Golf Shop and take a look at some of the new product that has arrived new Adidas shirts, new shoes and we have some more new product coming in as well.
Tomorrow, Saturday 1.25.25 we are expecting a thick frost and will not open until at least 8:00 am as of right now.
Please sign up for the following events:
- February 8th – Mixed Couples – 8:30 Shotgun start
- February 22nd & 23rd – Club Championship – 8:30 Shotgun Start each day

- April 17th, 18th & 19th – Member – Member – 8:30 Shotgun each day
All of these events are open on the website to sign up for currently. If you’re going to play in these events, please sign up early as I will need to get individual shirt sizes for people so we can make sure the product is in on time. I’m looking forward to making these events better each year and it will be a great time.
I’ve heard numerous comments on the new menu and many people are enjoying it. Please give it a try and let us know what you think as we are always looking for positive feedback so we can improve daily.
We have 169 people going to tonight’s band at Fairfax Hall and I hope everyone has a wonderful evening and enjoys this band.
