{"id":1845,"date":"2018-07-18T13:15:48","date_gmt":"2018-07-18T13:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canalshores.org\/?p=1845"},"modified":"2024-07-03T19:20:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T19:20:03","slug":"2017-eco-master-plan-preserving-the-future-of-golf-in-our-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vip.teeitup.com\/00076048\/2017-eco-master-plan-preserving-the-future-of-golf-in-our-community\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 ECO-MASTER PLAN: Preserving the Future of Golf in Our Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Preserving The Future Of Golf In Our Community<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/open?id=1k-6jctAm4z3lONRdQ5Q6sNXBQwU72HhZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"mo-center alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canalshores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7809\/2018\/04\/ecological-image.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a>In January\u00a02016, the Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association, which runs and maintains Canal Shores Golf Course, received a planning grant from IDNR\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/links.govdelivery.com\/track?type=click&amp;enid=ZWFzPTEmbWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTYwNjA5LjYwMTAyMjYxJm1lc3NhZ2VpZD1NREItUFJELUJVTC0yMDE2MDYwOS42MDEwMjI2MSZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPTEwMDEmc2VyaWFsPTE3MDY4NDgzJmVtYWlsaWQ9ZGJ1bGZAY2FuYWxzaG9yZXMub3JnJnVzZXJpZD1kYnVsZkBjYW5hbHNob3Jlcy5vcmcmZmw9JmV4dHJhPU11bHRpdmFyaWF0ZUlkPSYmJg==&amp;&amp;&amp;108&amp;&amp;&amp;http:\/\/www.dnr.illinois.gov\/cmp\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coastal Management Program<\/a>. <!--more-->This grant\u00a0is to enable Canal Shores to \u201chire a design engineering firm to develop a comprehensive habitat restoration and land use plan.\u201d This is a $20,000 matching grant, and the Association is tasked with raising $20,000 for the match. In April 2016, Canal Shores issued an RFP, received nine proposals, and selected\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/planres.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PRI, Planning Resources, Inc.<\/a>\u00a0for the job. PRI\u00a0utilized this\u00a0three-step approach:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>conduct natural resource inventories, including delineation of wetlands, an inventory of trees, and mapping of the general habitat across the property<\/li>\n<li>identify restoration and green infrastructure opportunities; and<\/li>\n<li>develop an Ecological Master Plan that provides a clear understanding of the site\u2019s goals and tangible direction on how to achieve those goals.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canalshores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7809\/2018\/04\/Eco-plan-exec-summary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here for the Eco-plan exec summary<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canalshores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7809\/2018\/04\/Dale-Floyd-Surveyed-Trees.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1798 noopener noreferrer\">Click here for the Canal Shores Tree Survey<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Canal Shores signed the PRI contract and\u00a0raised the $20,000 needed for its part of the matching grant. PRI\u2019s work\u00a0took\u00a0approximately 9 months.
