The Season Pass is a great holiday gift and a great contribution to the community,\u201d Bulf says.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evanstonnow.com\/files\/u17357\/webp.net-resizeimage.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>View of the 15th hole.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He\u00a0says that with a new emphasis on groundskeeping and hole design, Canal Shores is not the same course people remember from ten or even five years ago. \u201cIt&#8217;s remarkable what this small group of staff and volunteers have been able to accomplish in the last few years &#8212; golfers tell us the course is in the best shape they&#8217;ve ever seen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evanstonnow.com\/files\/u17357\/webp.net-resizeimage-3_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>A view of the course from Colfax Street.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The course is working its way back into the green and is hoping a robust membership drive and a fundraising effort will help keep the course on track for the future. &#8220;Canal Shores has made\u00a0the turn and is halfway to its goal of raising $100,000 in a hundred days. We may need to extend the campaign to achieve our goal,&#8221;\u00a0Bulf said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There are still a few more days to get in a round as the course usually closes for the season around Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evanstonnow.com\/files\/u17357\/webp.net-resizeimage-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Jim Ryan and his dog on the 15th hole after a recent snowfall.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Canal Shores is operated by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canalshores.org\/\">Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association<\/a>,\u00a0a non-profit, all-volunteer organization formed in 1919.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The course runs along the North Shore Channel from Green Bay Road in Evanston to the Baha\u2019i Temple near Wilmette Harbor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The land that comprises Canal Shores is sub-leased by the association from the City of Evanston and Village of Wilmette, which lease the property from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Canal Shores offers several programs, with an emphasis on golf for families, youth, and the community. Canal Shores is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and is a certified wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Evanston
