Tee Times

Course Tour

Hole One
Hole 1

Par 4, Yards 349, Stroke Index 11

Hit straight off the tee and you will be rewarded by a lush fairway which slightly bears to the right.

Two fairway bunkers protect the left side of the fairway. The green is guarded by a bunker and out of bounds on the left. An undulating green that slopes from front to back and gives a fair indication of the putting tests to follow.

Hole Two
Hole 2

Par 4, Yards 342, Stroke Index 13

Danger beckons on the left – a large deep recess with lots of trees.

The second fairway is relatively narrow, with bunkers on the right, but a well directed draw will be rewarded by an approach shot to the large 2nd green. The front right of the green is guarded by a bunker. The green is concave, so beware of breaking putts…

Hole Three
Hole 3

Par 4, Yards 400, Stroke Index 1

The third hole is long and straight, usually into a headwind. The fairway dips into a slight hollow, but is quite wide.

A straight second shot is required to avoid the trees on the right, and the bunkers left and right. The green slopes, and is on two tiers.

Hole Four
Hole 4

Par 4, Yards 372, Stroke Index 7

There are trees on both sides of the fairway, so a straight drive is imperative. A good drive will clear the fairway bunkers, and leave a clear shot to the green through a narrow gap in the trees. The green is heart shaped, with bunkers front right and left. Only a gentle slope on this one.

Hole Five
Hole 5

Par 4, Yards 346, Stroke Index 15

Your tee shot should bisect the tree lined entrance to the fairway towards the big oak on the left. If your ball fades to the right and lands on the left or middle of the fairway, this probably ideal because then you don’t have to carry the bunker on the right hand side of the green for your approach. DANGER… This green is on a severe incline and tops the list for three putt potential.

Hole Six
Hole 6

Par 4, Yards 355, Stroke Index 5

An uphill drive awaits. The trees on the right of the fairway seem to attract balls like a magnet.

The green is protected by bunkers on the right and left.. The first of these on the right is actually a little way from the green so can be deceptive when judging your approach to the green. Make sure you take enough club!

The green is slightly sloping, and extremely slippery.

Hole Seven
Hole 7

Par 3, Yards 170, Stroke Index 17

The first of three par 3 holes which has just been rebuilt – yes you guessed it, with loads of nasty bunkers guarding the green.

From the white tees, in windy conditions this hole can certainly cause a few problems particularly to those players under 17 handicap who don’t get a shot here!

Hole Eight
Hole 8

Par 4, Yards 372, Stroke Index 3

A blind tee shot awaits here. Aim at the marker post on the fairway and you won’t go far wrong. Too far left and you will be in one of the two bunkers or in the trees. Too far right, and more trees await. It’s downhill all the way with the second shot, on to a tricky green that slopes front to back.

Hole Nine
Hole 9

Par 5, Yards 499, Stroke Index 9

The first of two par 5s off the men’s tee. As with the previous hole, you are greeted with a blind tee shot.. The ideal shot is at the marker post with a controlled draw.

The only major problem is if you pull your tee shot too far left (trying to cut off the dogleg) you will be hunting in the long stuff or chewing on tree bark! Bunkers protect the green, so long hitters have to ensure they can be carried. The large, two tier green has slopes everywhere… so be careful!

Hole Ten
Hole 10

Par 3, Yards 123, Stroke Index 18

The shortest hole on the course, but what a beauty!

The green has four bunkers at front and side, which calls for accurate club selection and a well directed tee shot.

Hole Eleven
hole 11

Par 4, Yards 428, Stroke Index 6

From the elevated tee you can’t see the green, but you can see the pond on the right of the fairway. Since the fairway slopes towards the water, the drive needs to hit the left hand side of the fairway.

The fairway bears to the right with the green situated at the bottom of the hill. The second shot is a tough one down into a narrowing gap. Again sloping from front to back, the green is a tricky one.

Hole Twelve
hole 12

Par 4, Yards 398, Stroke Index 2

This hole certainly plays a lot longer due to being uphill.

A tree lined ditch runs along the right of the fairway for any slices, and heavy rough for those who hook or pull the ball. A high banked bunker on the left offers extra protection to the already narrow entrance to the green.

Hole Thirteen
hole 13

Par 5, Yards 530, Stroke Index 10

This, the second Par 5 for the men, can certainly be unlucky if you miss-hit your tee shot and end up deep down in the pit directly in front of the tee. Trees also overhang the pit on the left, so it’s a tight driving area. The fairway is generally wide and downhill towards the green. The green slopes severely from right to left, and front to back.

Hole Fourteen
hole 14

Par 3, Yards 166, Stroke Index 16

Uphill all the way, this hole has a green that is another tough cookie in terms of all the breaks it contains. There is also a nasty bunker on the left entrance of the green, and tough rough and a bunker on the right.

Be happy with a Par, and move on!

Hole Fifteen
hole 15

Par 4, Yards 288, Stroke Index 12

Hit straight off the tee and you will be rewarded by a lush fairway which slightly bears to the right.

Two fairway bunkers protect the left side of the fairway. The green is guarded by a bunker and out of bounds on the left. An undulating green that slopes from front to back and gives a fair indication of the putting tests to follow.

Hole Sixteen
hole 16

Par 4, Yards 362, Stroke Index 14

Just three holes to go, and make no mistake, this is the easiest of the three!

A nice open fairway invites you, but the pit (remember the 13th) looms on the right hand side. A large fairway bunker offers itself to the longer hitters as a hazard but it shouldn’t come into play for most. One of the quickest greens on the course, so be careful.

Hole Seventeen
hole 17

Par 4, Yards 461, Stroke Index 4

With the wind against (as it often is), this hole (along with the 18th) can be a card wrecker! A good drive still leaves a long iron into the green. Then, be very careful of the green side bunker on the right, some 30 yards from the green which has trapped many a ball.

There is also a small sneaky bunker on the left of the green which you can’t see from the fairway. The long, thin green has many slopes. There are no gimme putts on here.

Hole Eighteen
hole 18

Par 4, Yards 438, Stroke Index 8

What a finishing hole. After a good drive, you then face a daunting second shot. Do I lay up, or do I go for it? The final green is guarded by a deep wide moat (see the history of the club) at the front and to the right. Tree and foliage add to the beauty, but even the ducks take cover on this final hole from the inevitable barrage of under-hit golf balls destined to a watery woe. A fantastic finale to the round.
